NFL Player Data

Remember Ike Peterson from '35? Neither do we!

About This Data

The data was scraped using a Python code. The code can be located at Github: NFL Statistics Scrape, the data then became available here

With this dataset, we can look at the characteristics of existing (and past) NFL players to have a better understanding of the sport. With this information, we can also predict the positioning or quality of new players. Lastly, this information could be used for fantasy football, by having a better understanding of how players rank in comparison to other players in the same position.

Things to try in the data set:

Group Data

Roll data up into groups of values within a column to look for trends. Place groups inside of groups to drill down another level, then group again!

Filter Data

Use the filters to narrow down the file to the values that interest you most. Only show values that include, exclude, contain, or are greater than a value (to name a few). Then add another level of filtering with AND / OR logic to dive deeper.

Search Data

Not sure where to start? Use search to find values in the file and then go back and filter or group the entire data set down to just that value.

Key Insights

It is July, the last month without football, and it's been a long wait since the "Big Game" in February. Preseason kicks off August 4th and the fun begins in earnest on September 8th, when the Buffalo Bills travel to the defending champion Los Angeles Rams. Here at Gigasheet, we have been curious about NFL player data. What is it that makes NFL players successful? Is it height and weight? Or what college they play for? Honestly, we aren’t sure. But we have provided you all with an opportunity to answer some of these many questions with our new football player dataset.
